Red-neon portrait in Shinjuku, Tokyo

A Shinjuku photoshoot with @ Studio ON is a night-leaning portrait session built around neon, narrow alleys, and the layered signage that defines Tokyo's after-dark skyline. We move between Omoide Yokocho, Kabukicho, and the side streets near Shinjuku Station to give every frame a different signage palette.

Shinjuku photoshoot FAQ

  • Is Kabukicho safe for an after-dark photoshoot?
Yes. Kabukicho is heavily trafficked and well-policed throughout the evening. We stick to the main signage corridors and avoid host-club entrances out of professional courtesy.
  • Can we shoot inside Omoide Yokocho?
We shoot in the public lanes between bars. Individual bar interiors require the owner's permission, which we don't arrange as part of a standard session.
  • Will my photos look noisy because it's shot at night?
No. We use fast prime lenses and modern full-frame sensors specifically tuned for low-light Tokyo work. Night frames are cleaned and color-graded in our signature edit.
  • Do I need to wear anything specific for neon photos?
Solid colors that contrast with red and pink neon read best. Avoid all-white tops, which clip under saturated signage.
